Armon Shipyard in Vigo finished in July 2019 one of the most modern research ships in the world, the Swedish ship RV Svea.This Swedish vessel, owned by the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, will be operated and used by the University and the Swedish Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology . The new vessel is intended for the study of ecosystems, evaluation of fish stocks and water's quality control. In addition, it has the capacity to analyze climate change, marine biodiversity, eutrophication, CO2 measurements, oxygen and other variables.
The forecast is for the ship to conduct twelve annual campaigns in the North and Baltic Sea waters.
It has a crew of 15 people and has accommodation for the same number of researchers, a total of 28 cabins, depending on the mission entrusted.
